Menomonee Falls High School is proud to announce the selection of Shannon Doherty, a senior at MFHS, as a 2023 Herb Kohl Student Excellence Scholarship recipient.
Excellence Scholarship recipients have demonstrated academic excellence and a broad range of activity and leadership in their community. Doherty will receive a $10,000 scholarship and is among only 190 graduating high school students in Wisconsin this year to receive this award.
Award recipients are selected by a statewide committee composed of civic leaders and representatives of education-related associations and the program’s co-sponsors: The Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, regional Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESA), the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, and the Wisconsin Homeschooling Parents Association.
“We are extremely proud of Shannon for her outstanding work and leadership. The Kohl Foundation recognition is well-deserved,” said Dr. Jim Heiden, Interim Superintendent of School for the School District of Menomonee Falls.
The Kohl Foundation award program was established by Herb Kohl, a former U.S. Senator, philanthropist, and businessman. Since 1990, the foundation has awarded nearly $34 million to Wisconsin educators, principals, students, and schools.
