Gebauer Selected as North Middle School Principal

Dan Gebauer has been selected as the principal at North Middle School, replacing Lynn Grimm, who has decided to return to the classroom to teach first grade at Ben Franklin Elementary School.

The selection of Gebauer involved a focused and inclusive process of nearly 80 applicants.  The interview team, consisting of SDMF administrators, teachers, support staff, and board members, was impressed by Gebauer’s knowledge as an instructional leader and his history of developing teachers.

“I am confident that North Middle School will thrive under Dan’s leadership,” said Corey Golla, Superintendent of Schools. “Dan has a rich background and knowledge as an instructional leader and a history of developing teachers.  He has left lasting relationships everywhere he has worked and is described by others as personable, hard-working, and ‘unflappable.’ He is student-centered, has a strong vision for the middle school experience, and regards himself as a ‘middle school guy.’“

Gebauer most recently served as an associate principal of Silver Lake Intermediate School in Oconomowoc. He received his National Board Certification in 2011 as a middle childhood generalist.  Gebauer began his teaching career in 2004 with Elmbrook School District where he taught fourth-grade. In 2013, he transitioned to serve Elmbrook School District as a teaching and learning specialist until 2018.

Gebauer has held leadership positions in mathematics education, grading and reporting, value-added data analysis, teacher professional development, personalized learning with technology, and teacher coaching. He has also presented at the Chromebook Institute in Downers Grove, Illinois and for Wisconsin Education Innovations.

Gebauer is a graduate of Menomonee Falls High School.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from UW-Milwaukee and a Master’s Degree in Education from Cardinal Stritch University. He was also a Woodrow Wilson fellow at the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he earned an MBA in Educational Leadership. He enjoys spending time with his two children, Macy and Jacob, and his wife, Jamie. He is also a competitive marathon runner, and a home brewer.
