Construction at Shady Lane to begin Oct. 5

With the passing of the April 5, 2016 referendum, approximately 70 projects across the district will make our schools safer, more efficient and provide a more capable learning space to prepare children for college, career and the workforce. Thank you for voting!

This month marks the first part of a two-part project at Shady Lane that will make pickup and drop off safer for families, decongest our area streets and provide parking for our visitors.

Below is a letter Shady Lane Principal Brad Hoffman provided to neighbors in the area of Shady Lane this week:

Hello Shady Lane Families, Friends and Neighbors,
I want to first thank you for the incredible support for our staff and our kids. We are a close community of educators, students, families and friends that work hard to give kids opportunities and build our future.
As you likely know, last spring the voters of Menomonee Falls approved a capital referendum that included 70 facility improvement projects across all of our buildings in the district. Some of the projects pertain to Shady Lane, including additional and improved parking and the construction of a new, centrally located office with a more secure entrance. A map is included on the back.
As a valued neighbor, I wanted to keep you updated on the progress of the projects as some may affect traffic and parking in the area. The first phase of this project is the construction of a staff parking lot on the west side of the school. That construction will begin on October 5th. This will be the first phase so that when our current parking lot is under construction next spring, we will still have some on-site parking. This may mean heavy machinery entering Roosevelt Dr. and may reduce some of our street parking temporarily.
The new west parking lot will be operational this fall with landscaping and final touches being completed next spring and summer. The work on the current parking lot and new office addition will begin next spring. I will share an update with you as that project begins.
Please call, email or stop by with any questions that you may have.
Thank you,
Brad Hoffman
