MENOMONEE FALLS (9/6/16) — The Board of Education for the School District of Menomonee Falls has selected the Menomonee Falls Police Department and Bob & Pat Wille as their Distinguished Service recipients for the 2016-2017 school year.
They will be honored at the Sept. 12 annual meeting at MFHS Auditorium at 7 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
The recipients of this award are community members or organizations that make significant contributions to the School District of Menomonee Falls students and staff or the Menomonee Falls community as a whole.
Modeled after James Hollenhorst, who was the first recipient of the award, the honor is presented to an individual who has given freely and graciously to the support of the School District of Menomonee Falls’ goals and whose efforts have helped improve student learning and professional development for District staff.
The Distinguished Service Award is awarded to those individuals or organizations who have proven to be leaders in bringing about positive and meaningful educational change.
Recipients of the Friend of Education award will also be honored at the annual meeting Monday night. People chosen for the award are nominated by staff in the district for their commitment to education. These people spend many volunteer hours in schools and the community supporting enriching opportunities for area children.
This year’s recipients are: Barb Taggart, Todd Paulus, Ed Eastman, Kent Eliason and Rodney and Michelle Zimmerman.
Each of these recipients will be presented a “busscape” that was created by an elementary child in the district.
