Multiple students placed top 10 at nationals in Atlanta
MENOMONEE FALLS (7/7/16) — The Future Business Leaders of America from Menomonee Falls High School are not only state champs, but many students took home national accolades for their projects and knowledge of business practices.
Last week the students traveled to Atlanta to compete in the national FBLA competition and returned home with a number of nationally ranked awards.
“First, it shows the hard work these students put into their areas of competition,” said MFHS Principal Bob Vitale who attended the conference with the students. “Secondly, it shows the guidance and preparation that Mrs. Burling and Mrs. Oliver put into the team. There is total ‘buy in’ with the students and advisors. These are great students and teachers who care immensely for their school and club.”
Of the 44 students that qualified and competed at nationals, 11 students placed nationally among a competition pool of more than 12,000 FBLA students from across the country.
The nationally ranked students are:
Tyler Jackson & Mindy Wolfe — Partnership with Business Project, 9th Place
Ethan Siebauer, Connor Schmidt and Dylan Tautges — Mobile Application Development, 7th Place
Maddie Thomas & Mara Tibbals — 3D Animation, 9th Place
Casey Seidl, Jordan Boenberger and Sarah Shepherd — Digital Video Production, 6th Place
Lauren Maier — Accounting 2, 9th place
Not only did students enjoy the trip, seeing some amazing landmarks, they were also beacons of the community, representing themselves as business professionals even though some had only graduated from high school the month before.
“The students did a great job of representing and being ambassadors for MFHS,” Vitale said. “I believe the students had a great time in Atlanta. Students did sightseeing visited Georgia Tech University, toured Coca Cola, Aquarium, CNN, Olympic Park, Georgia Dome, Phillips Arena, museums and other sights. I would also like to thank all those who donated to these students to help decrease costs.”
These students couldn’t have made it to nationals without the help and support of the Menomonee Falls community who donated time and funds to help the students get there.
